▶ When does Phantom Blade Zero release?
September 9, 2026 for PlayStation 5 and PC on Steam and honestly I've been waiting for this since the first trailer dropped and September feels like forever away but that's the date and pre-orders should open 3-4 months before so keep an eye out and don't fall for those fake pre-order sites that pop up whenever a big game is about to launch.
▶ What platforms is Phantom Blade Zero on?
PlayStation 5 and PC (Steam) and that's it for now and honestly with the Unreal Engine 5 requirements a PS4 or Xbox One port is basically impossible and Nintendo Switch 2 or Xbox Series X|S hasn't been announced yet and I wouldn't hold my breath for either tbh and if you're on Xbox you might be waiting a while based on how these platform exclusivity deals usually work.
▶ How long is Phantom Blade Zero?
The main story takes about 30-40 hours if you just follow the main path and don't get sidetracked by every shiny thing which let's be real you absolutely will and if you're a completionist who wants all 8 endings and every side quest and hidden secret and collectible etc expect 60-80+ hours and honestly my first playthrough took 55 hours because I kept dying to bosses and exploring every corner of the map and NG+ and boss rush add more time on top. So the value is honestly pretty good for the price and I don't say that about many games these days.
▶ Is there multiplayer?
There are co-op dungeons and a boss rush endgame mode with leaderboards which is honestly pretty fun for a game that's mostly single-player and the co-op supports up to 3 players in dedicated dungeon instances that are separate from the main story so you don't have to worry about someone messing up your campaign progression or whatever and the main campaign is strictly single-player which I actually prefer because co-op campaigns always feel compromised somehow.
▶ Who is the developer?
S-GAME based in Beijing, China and they previously did the Phantom Blade mobile franchise which was honestly pretty good for mobile games and this is their first console/PC title. Their first. And the jump in quality and scope is massive and I think people are gonna be surprised when they find out who actually made this and that's honestly one of the most interesting things about PB Zero for me and I love an underdog story and S-GAME is definitely that here and I really hope they pull it off because the talent is clearly there.
▶ What engine does it use?
Unreal Engine 5 and it uses Nanite virtualized geometry for the environments and Lumen dynamic global illumination for the lighting and honestly the trailers look incredible and if the final game looks anywhere close to what they've shown it's going to be one of the best-looking action games on the market and the lighting especially makes a huge difference in how the combat reads visually.
▶ Is Phantom Blade Zero open world?
It's semi-open with interconnected regions and each area is pretty large with branching paths and shortcuts and secrets and stuff but progression is gated by story milestones so you can't just go anywhere from the start and think of it like a modern God of War where you get large explorable zones that connect to each other rather than one seamless open world and honestly I prefer this approach because the level design is tighter and you don't get that open world fatigue where everything starts feeling the same.
▶ How many endings are there?
8 distinct endings and they're determined by your choices with key NPCs and which factions you side with and specific boss outcomes and a critical decision in the final act and honestly some of the endings are radically different from each other and I've got a full guide on this if you want the specifics and you'll need multiple playthroughs to see them all but NG+ makes it way less painful.
▶ Is it a Souls-like?
This is probably the question I see most and the answer is no it's closer to Ninja Gaiden or Devil May Cry than Dark Souls and I cannot stress this enough there is no stamina bar. None. Zero. And the Sha-Chi system rewards aggressive offense and combat is fast and combo-heavy and while it shares some DNA with Souls games like the boss-focused design and checkpoint system and stuff like that it plays very differently and if you go in expecting Souls combat you're going to be confused for the first few hours. But then you'll realize the game wants you to attack not wait and that's when it clicks and it feels incredible honestly.
▶ How much will it cost?
Not officially announced yet but based on current AAA pricing expect $59.99-$69.99 USD and there will probably be a deluxe or collector's edition with an art book and soundtrack and in-game items and honestly the price seems fair for the amount of content you get but we'll know for sure closer to launch when pre-orders go live and I'll update this when the official price drops.
Still Have Questions?
I tried to cover everything people actually ask about but if I missed something check the Beginner Guide for gameplay tips or the Combat System Guide for detailed mechanics and honestly just exploring the wiki will probably answer whatever you're looking for and if not you can always hit me up on the contact page and I'll add it here.
